This amazing community event will take place in the heart of Old Bałuty, joining the past with the present.
I SAW A CRYING HORSE / theatre play
A show based on the book “Aunt Esther” by Arieh Eckstein will guide us, using words and music, through the memories of Avrum Leib, who grew up in pre-war Łódź.
Idea and performance: Ada Słowikowska and Ola Wielemborek
SONGS OF JEWISH THIEVES AND PROSTITUTES OF PRE-WAR WARSAW AND ŁÓDŹ / concert
IZABELLA GOLDSTEIN (a cappella)
Songs of the Jewish underworld, performed by Izabella Goldstein, once sang in poor Jewish districts, are an exceptional piece of music heritage that is practically unknown in Poland.
DI LIBE BRENT WI A NASE SZMATE / concert
“Love burns like a wet rag” – the Yiddish culture and Jewish jokes, pre-war melodies and criminal stories; Maja Luxenberg pays tribute to the women forgotten by history – slaves, sex workers, witches – anonymous heroines of the colourful, multicultural word, which is irreversibly gone.
